February Update

We are more then half way through February and this is my first post of the month.  So what have I been up to? because it certainly has not been blogging.  In all honesty I have not been doing much, my last post talked about being in a bit of a rut, and well I was finding it hard to motivate myself to really do anything.  It was becoming a bit of a cycle.  I had things I wanted to get done and had lots of free time to do them, but was constantly procrastinating because of all the free time.  Most nights I was often free and people who knew this would be calling me lots, "Hey I have an extra Oiler ticket for Tuesdays game, you aren't working lets get drunk", "Hey I am off work this week, lets go get some wings and get drunk, my treat", "Hey this is happening and that is happening, lets get drunk" I found myself going out quite a bit and spending most days sleeping in, very counter productive.  When I first got home I would make these lists of things I wanted to get done and on things I wanted to blog about.  Those list were slowly getting longer and longer and eventually I just stopped adding to them and doing them altogether.  The one thing I was still doing though was plenty of reading, I would lay in bed in the afternoons and read for hours.  The only productive thing I have been doing, if you can even call it productive.  So what now, I am trying to pull myself out of this rut, and well it is a been a bit of a slow process, but I am getting there.

I think the most important part of getting back on track is getting back to work.  I have not worked full time since August now, and I am actually looking forward to getting back to the grind to bring some routine and structure back to my life.  In order to gain some financial stability again I have considered heading back up North.  It is the easiest way to make fast money and get into a position to do the things I want to do with my life.  I looked into getting my old job back with PTI, but after getting the run around with them it seems that because of my Chicago trip last summer, they don't want to hire me back.  Which is their loss really, from what I hear they are in desperate need of some experienced help up there, and there are plenty of our opportunities around for me.  I was hired with Horizon North last week and they have called me to ship out to various different camps, but all there offers have been for around thirteen dollars an hour, which I could easily make staying in town, so I have turned them down every time.  I have an interview with Peek Energy Services this Tuesday, and if they give me a decent offer I will take it.  If they don't I have been looking at some of my options here in Edmonton and I believe I will just stay in town.

All in all things are looking up, I have lots going on in my life that I am looking forward to and really I am in a position where I can do anything I want.
